Imports of gas to Kazakhstan from Uzbekistan will increase by 20 %

Astana. April 23. Kazakhstan Today - Delivery of gas to the domestic market of Kazakhstan from Uzbekistan will increase by 20% in 2008. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev informed at the government session on Tuesday, the agency reports. "The arrangement has been reached between KazMunayGas, Gazprom and Uzbekoilgas on deliveries of gas at the level of nearly 5 billion cubic meters that is by 20 % more than in 2007 to provide home marketof Kazakhstan with gas in 2008," S. Mynbayev said. Thus, the price of gas for Kazakhstan in the first half-year will remain at the last year's level. "But for the second half-year the price will increase and will make about $25 for cubic meter," he added. "By autumn-winter period KazTransGas plans to store natural gas in the underground storehouses at the volume of 765 million cubic meters," the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources concluded.
