Caspian Energy Hub to be created in Aktau
Aktau. May 30. Kazakhstan Today - Caspian Energy Hub in Aktau will be created in spring, 2009. Akim of Mangistau oblast Krymbek Kusherbayev informed addressing the participants of the international scientific-practical conference VI International Nadirov Readings, the agency reports. Akim of the oblast reminded that the contract on realization of the project Caspian Energy Hub was signed during the World Economic Forum on the Middle East taken place on May 18, 2008 in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt with participation of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The contract was signed between JSC Company Fund for Steady Development Kazyna, JSC Company Kazakhstan Holding on Management of State Assets Samruk, international consulting company PFC Energy, the investment company Gulf Finance House specializing on projects connected with innovations in economy, and JSC Company Investment Company Mangistau. Earlier, in April of 2008 these companies signed memorandum of mutual understanding. K. Kusherbayev noted that the Caspian Energy Hub will represent klaster of branches and services necessary for further development of energy sector. Industrial infrastructure of high class for service and oil-and-gas companies, Technical University of the international level, specialized laboratories, center for interpretation of geophysical data, control centre of crisis situations connected with threat of state security and protection of environment will be created on its territory. "Realization of this project will involve significant foreign investments into development of infrastructure, raise business activity and create new workplaces in Aktau that corresponds to the Strategy of territorial development of the Republic of Kazakhstan till 2015," oblast akim emphasized. As it was informed earlier, Caspian Energy Hub is the project of economic development with the objective - to become energy enterprise giving full complex of services and meeting commercial, technical and personnel needs of oil-and-gas industry of the region.
