Kazakhstan, Iran expanding coop in oil & gas sphere

ASTANA. February 20. KAZINFORM – A number of measures on the issues of expansion of the Kazakh-Iranian oil and gas cooperation within the framework of realization of the decisions of the joint intergovernmental commission was held in Tehran on February 12-15, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of Kazakh Embassy in Iran. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Iran Yerik Utembayev met with Deputy Oil Minister of Iran Reza Kasaeizadeh, who is also managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company. The parties discussed possible ways of further deepening of the bilateral economic collaboration. Special attention was paid to the prospects of interaction in the field of technologies and experience exchange. Besides, there were organized analogous talks of the Kazakh working group consisting of the directors of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and National Company KazMunaiGaz JSC. The delegation was headed by managing director for gas projects of KazMuniaGaz JSC Mussabek Issayev. Then the Kazakh delegation visited industrial and infrastructure objects of Iran including gas processing and petrochemical complexes Assaluyeh special economic zone in the Persian Gulf, Neka Port on the Caspian Sea and others. Upon the results of the visit the working group reached an agreement on the exchange of correspondent technologies and experience, holding of feasibility studies and presentation of legal framework regulating issues of work of Assaluyeh special economic zone and activity of foreign companies in oil and gas sphere of Iran. In its turn, the Iranian side invited Kazakh enterprises to participate in the opening ceremony of Assaluyeh petrochemical complex in May 2007.
