International Financial Institutions invested 1 billion euro in transport infrastructure of TRACECA countries

Baku. December 5. Kazakhstan Today - The International Financial Institutions invested in development of transport infrastructures of the countries - participants of TRACECA program more than 1 billion euro. The chairman of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, Serik Ahmetov, said on Thursday in Baku at the opening ceremony of the anniversary ministerial meeting devoted to the 10th anniversary of signing of the TRACECA multilateral agreement, the agency reports. "Eurocommission within the TRACECA program has financed more than 70 projects and as a result the realized projects have created favorable conditions for attraction of investments. As a whole, investments of the International Financial Institutions in development of TRACECA transport infrastructure have exceeded 1 billion euro," S. Ahmetov said. Vice Premier of the Azerbaijan government, Abid Sharifov, noted that of Eurocommission, within the TRACECA program, has financed 76 investment and contract projects for the sum of 157 million euro. The multilateral agreement on creation of the TRACECA corridor was signed in September, 1998 in Baku. 12 European and Asian states are the TRACECA program member countries.
