Kazakhstan Today - The chairman of the National Bank, Anvar Saydenov, informed today during the government session that one of the main tasks of the National Bank and the government of Kazakhstan in 2009 will be to maintain stability of the national currency or, at least, to smoothly change the rate of tenge, the agency reports. "The government and the National Bank will supervise the condition of the balance of payments of the financial organizations in Kazakhstan and the exchange rate of tenge... High proportion of assets and obligations of the economy accounts for foreign currency. There is high credit risk caused by disparity of currency assets and obligations of debtors," he said.
