Only on condition that we do it timely and qualitatively we will overcome threats of economic depression and recession. Kazakh Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Bakhyt Sultanov has made it public at the sitting in the Government with the participation of the regional akims, heads of Astana and Almaty cities, national companies and socio-entrepreneurial corporations. “Current indices of business and investment activity as well as unemployment in economy branches show that we are still at risk”, the Minister said. According to the Ministry’s data, in the second half of 2008 the real GDP growth made up 1.4% while it was 5.7% in the first half of the year. Thus it amounted 3.3% per annum. The level of unemployment in the first half of this year increased from 6.7% to 7%.
