Time to upgrade Kazakh-Saudi cooperation: Kazakh PM

ASTANA. May 18. KAZINFORM. /Kanat Kulshmanov/ “Attraction of foreign investments is surely a high priority, but we need your assistance to achieve it. Fields of our potential cooperation are quite broad and cover a big number of branches including agriculture, petrochemistry, oil and gas, energy and tourism”, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has said at the Kazakh-Saudi business forum in the Astana Rixos Hotel today.Representatives of Kazakh business circles and the delegation of Saudi businessmen headed by Mr. Amr Al-Dabbagh, Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) take part in the forum. “In the sphere of finance Kazakhstan has recently become a leader among the CIS and Central Asian states, which accepted legislation for the Islamic financing development. We are interested in your experience in this important and growing financing sector”, the Premier noted. According to the Kazakh Statistics Agency, in 2008 the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia amounted to USD 68.5 million, including USD 65.8 million of export and USD 2.6 million of import.
