KAZINFORM The IV Eurasian Forum will provide a unique platform for key stakeholders to discuss the current and future-oriented issues of concern, not only to local and regional audiences, but also to the global system at large. Given that Eurasia is home to almost 35% of the non-OPEC hydrocarbon reserves, whatever happens in this region will inevitably affect the rest of the world. The emerging new world energy order is being shaped by the combination of rising demand, the powerful new energy consumers, and the contraction of the global energy supply. This new order will be characterized by fierce international competition for dwindling stocks of oil, natural gas, coal, and uranium, as well as by a tidal shift in power and wealth from energy-deficient states to energy-surplus states. The inevitable depletion of traditional energy resources, geopolitical discrepancies, high competition for long-term investments, increasing industry cots, disturbance of ecological balance, technology transfer issue, shortage of skilled personnel, increasing risk management requirements - all these and other challenges require effective mechanisms of dialogue between the resource-rich regions and major energy consumers beyond the limits of individual energy markets. Eurasia in general and Kazakhstan in particular play a critical role in ensuring a smooth transition to the new world energy order through multi-vectoral, sustainable and competitive strengths. The IV Eurasian Energy Forum aims to help decision-makers in business, government and civil society in their search for efficient and sustainable solutions in this geography and beyond. That is why the discussion of current status of energy industry and science in Kazakhstan and the whole Eurasian region will consolidate a wide and representative circle of strategists and practitioners of oil and gas and electric power industry from around the world. The IV Eurasian Energy Forum "KazEnergy" 2009: The 4th Eurasian Energy Forum will bring together over 800 the most influential professionals in the Kazakhstan oil and gas industry. You will hear from 45+ top-level speakers, who are all recognised leaders and experts in Kazakhstan and international oil and gas markets, on their strategies for making those tough decisions that will allow them to become stronger and better placed contenders when the markets start to recover, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in the UK.
