Energy sector plays important role in Kazakh-Ukrainian relations - V.Yanukovich

KAZINFORM. /Rassul Bakhamov/ "Energy sector plays important role in development of bilateral relations with Kazakhstan", President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich has said it today at the meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev in Kiev today. He noted that Ukraine was interested in expanding cooperation in that sphere. According to him, there are many sphere of cooperation with Kazakhstan that have big potential. "At the same this potential has not been used in full yet", he said. The President also expressed regret for the decrease of commodity circulation in 2009. Mr. Yanukovich told that the issues of trade development would be considered at the sitting of the bilateral interstate commission for trade-economic cooperation in the nearest future. The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Ukraine amounted to USD 3.420 billion in 2009, whereas export was USD 1.289 billion and import - USD 2.131 billion. Kazakhstan is the third trade partner of Ukraine. Kazakhstan's main exports are oil and oil products, metals, machines and equipment, ready-made food products. The two countries study the prospects of joint production of oil and gas equipment, participation of Ukrainian companies in implementation of Kazakh projects on transport infrastructure construction.
