Transport and Agriculture Ministers held meeting
Astana. September 24. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan S. Akhmetov held the meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan A. Esimov. During the meeting the ministers discussed the questions of transportation of grain crop of 2007, Transport and Communications Ministry press service informed the agency. "Considering high potential of the Kazakhstan grain market and prospect of its development, one of the obstacles of increase of export potential of the Kazakhstan grain can be the condition and quantity of transportation means," the press release widespread by the results of the meeting states. According to the forecasts of Agriculture Ministry of Kazakhstan, this year in the Republic grain harvest is expected to hit the record - about 20 million tons in bunker weight. The plan of shipment of grain in September 2007 makes - 6291 units of transportation (401 760 tons). As of September 20, 3333 unit of transportation have been shipped (221 880 tons), including for export - 1451 units (96 595 tons), for Kazakhstan - 1882 units (125 285). The press service informs, as of September, 20, 2007 the inventory transportation park of Kaztemirtrans Company makes - 5 245 units. Following the results of the meeting, the Protocol on transportation of grain of 2007 has been signed. As it was informed earlier, railway transportation of grain crop in 2006 during October 2006 - August, 2007 reached 8.5 million tons, including for export - 6 million tons and for the oblasts - 2.5 million tons. Growth of crop harvest in 2005 made 70 %. The main countries-importers of Kazakhstan grain are Russia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, the Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, and the countries of far abroad, such as Turkey, India, Italy, Greece, Egypt and others.
