January gold and exchange currency reserves of Kazakhstan increased by 5.9 %

Almaty. February 4. Kazakhstan Today - The international reserves of the country in whole (in current prices), including money of the National fund (according to the preliminary estimates - $21 555.9 million), have grown by 5.9 % and have made $40 717.2 million, the agency reports referring to the message of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Growth of net international reserves of the National Bank in January, 2008 caused expansion of monetary base by 3.1 % (or 45.2 billion KZT). Purchase of currency in the internal currency market, income of currency at the government accounts of the National Bank, increase in the rests at the correspondent accounts of the banks of the second level in foreign currency in the National Bank have caused growth of foreign currency reserves. As a result, net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) have increased by $1 607.6 million, assets in gold - by $158.0 million as a result of growth of its price in the world markets by 11.5 %. In the current prices net international reserves of the National Bank have grown by 10.2 % (or $1 765.6 million).
