Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan – PetroKazakhstan informs about holding a commissioning ceremony for its gas utilization facilities at Aryskum and Kyzylkiya oil fields.
Kyzylorda, April 16, 2008. – PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources Company (PKKR) held a startup ceremony to commission its gas utilization facilities at Aryskum and Kyzylkiya oil fields in Kyzylorda Oblast.
The celebration ceremony was opened by the Kyzylorda Oblast Deputy Akim, K.I.Idirisov and PKKR President, Bo Qiliang.
“PKKR is one of the leading oil companies in
Gas injected into reservoirs of the above mentioned fields helps to maintain formation pressure, increase oil recovery, and also ensure a significant reduction of contaminant emissions into atmosphere.
Last December the Company successfully completed construction of full gas utilization facilities at these oil fields. At Kyzylkiya oil field they constructed facilities that utilize gas by pumping gas from Kyzylkiya to Aryskum for its further injection into reservoirs. Within the framework of this project they installed a booster compressor unit and continued the 27-km Kyzylkiya-Aryskum gas pipeline.
A full gas utilization project implemented at Aryskum has significantly increased the capacity of the existing gas injection system. At this oil field they installed 2 booster and 2 injection compressors and a gas distributing station, drilled 6 new gas injection wells, ran a gas pressure pipeline and gas injection lines to wells. Owing to this project they will be able to inject up to 250 million m3 of gas per year into reservoirs at Aryskum oil field.
To ensure a maximum recovery of gas produced together with crude oil, in-field oil and gas gathering systems have been built at Kyzylkiya and Aryskum oil fields. Producing wells have been connected to leak-proof pipelines of the gathering systems that supply produced stuff through metering stations of the local Central Processing Facility (CPF).
After some separation at CPF the gas is supplied to gas utilization facilities and part of it is also used for internal needs of the field. Maybulak oil field is continuing the construction of its in-field oil and gas gathering system which will be completed together with commissioning of gas utilization facilities.
On June 15, 2006 the RK Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources approved the Program for Gas Utilization for PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources. In December 2007 gas utilizations projects were completed at Kumkol (Phase 1), Kyzylkiya and Aryskum fields and were accepted by the State Commission for operation.
The purpose of the gas utilization project at Kumkol oil field is reinjection of gas into the gas cap of Kumkol South oil field in the volume of 51 million m3/year or 140 thousand m3/day, respectively.
As per RK MEMR decisions implementation of some gas utilization projects is currently on-going at Kumkol (Phase 2) and Maybulak oil fields. The Maybulak gas utilization project provides for installation of 2 gas-reciprocating units that would produce 1 MW of electricity each, construction of a compressor area for installation of booster compressors and a compressor for surplus gas reinjection into the reservoir. In particular they are going to build an oil gathering area. Gas-reciprocating units will be supplied with gas from the Maybulak oil gathering area being designed.
As of now the implementation of the above mentioned gas utilization projects enabled to achieve the following results:
- Up to 71,000 m3/day are injected into the reservoir at Kumkol oil field (south-east part);
- Up to 160,000 m3/day of gas are pumped from Kyzylkiya to Aryskum oil field;
- Up to 410,000 m3/day of gas, including gas produced at Aryskum and received from Kyzylkiya, are injected into the reservoir at Aryskum oil field.
